| Worcester Warrior's RFU Academy has just 'celebrated' its 3rd anniversary. Since its start in March 2002 , then under the helm of Nigel (Ollie) Redman and Graham Smith it has now developed into one of the leading RFU Academys for player development in the country.
During its first year it attracted a number of quality players who went all the way to the National U19 Cup final and were beaten for the first time that season by London Irish. The player base has not only grown, but enhanced by the inclusion of up to 20 young players having gained National representative honours in the past two years.
Late 2002 saw some major management changes, Graham Smith leaving to become RFUW Head Coach for England Ladies, and replaced by Gary Meechan, who had been involved as backs coach with the Academy for the previous two seasons and was working for the RFU Development Office.
Redman had long been involved with the National Youth sides at U19 and more recently with U21. In August 2003 he moved to coach within Brian Ashton's National Academy.
January 2005 saw a new Manager, Andrew Stanley late of Hartpury College, Gloucestershire.
With an already outstanding junior outreach development programme, a proven comprehensive elite full time development structure in place, and the with the support of the Warrior's Director of Rugby, Stan & Meech are gearing up for the future and will continue to commit to deliver a programme of excellence within the Academy, and throughout its satellite centres of excellence and Elite Development Centres.
