‘Schools of Rugby’ Player Development Programme
Worcester Warriors play a strong supporting role in the newly formed constituent body, ‘Schools of Rugby’ player development programme.
The ‘Schools of Rugby’ has replaced the old district and county system at Under 13, 14 and 15 years of age, with the aim of shifting the focus away from competitive matches and towards developing young player’s athletic potential and core skill levels.
The programme is run out of Worcester Warriors five EPDG (Elite Player Development Group) centres throughout the North Midlands area and is coached according to the RFU curriculum which acts as a guide to ensure our team of handpicked coaching staff help these young players maximise their potential within the game of rugby.
A ‘Masterclass’ programme runs below the ‘Schools of Rugby’ level. The aim of this programme is to provide players just below the required ‘Schools of Rugby’ standard further chance to develop their understanding and skill levels. The opportunity for movement between the two programmes is also given to ensure players are on the correct pathway according to their ability and speed of development.
Please refer to the below progression table, presenting how movement can occur between each level.
