| Welcome To Worcester Juniors |
|
Come up to the club on a Sunday morning you will see over 500 boys and girls aged 6 to 17 putting on their gold and blue shirt of Worcester and playing with as much pride and passion as the Warriors but with perhaps a different emphasis where children smiling is much more important than winning.
The Mini / Junior Section is run principally by the parents of the children and adheres fully with all the requirements and suggestions from the RFU and RFUW and, in particular, the ethos of equity in sport, health and safety and child protection.
Okay, playing for enjoyment is paramount but the winning is rather pleasant too. During the season our teams continued to have success at the very highest level, a brief summary shows that other than our National Champions at Under 17s, Ladies Under 17s and Under 10s, along with the Ladies Under 14s missing out narrowly but being runner ups we also secured:
- Regional Champions (North Midlands)
- Under 11s, 14s, 15s, and 17s
- Various Tournaments winners
- Under 10s, 11s, and 16s
- Runners-up Under 7s and 8s
- Kyran Bracken Trophy against Stourbridge and Saracens – Under 9s, 10s, 11s, and 12s.
The Section now runs probably one of the top tournaments for Under 7s through to Under 12s and the success of this is highlighted that most of the top Mini/Junior sections apply to attend so when a Worcester age group does win through it is because they have beaten the best the country can throw at them.
Membership of the Section is not on ability but availability within each age group. If your son or daughter wants to play then please contact us. Under 7s to 12s is mixed rugby and the Ladies Under 14s take girls from about 11.
Age is determined as at 31 August / 1 September, so for example a child born on 1 September 1996 will be 10 on 1 September 2006 but is an Under 10 for the 2006/7 Season.
