The Easter Holiday has brought a huge opportunity to the first cohort of the npowering Learning Easter School which took gifted and talented science students in for three days of intense work to design an eco friendly North Stand to complement the existing developments at Sixways Stadium.
The project team consists of representatives from Worcestershire LEA, The University of Worcester, Warriors Study Centre and our Principle Community Partners npower as well as a host of other contributors such as Slick Systems.

Warriors Study Centre Staff, Warriors Community Staff and the Operations team supported the children’s learning by discussing issues that face the club in its on going mission to be one of the leading rugby stadia facilities in Europe. The climax of the week was the presentation evening where participants were judged on their submission by a panel of expert judges who identified the best all round design for innovation, appearance and environmentally conscious design.

‘This project is one of a kind and it is down to the hard work and dedication of Janet Lodge the LEA Science Consultant and the Warriors Study Centre Manager Glynn who have coordinated a team of internal and external partners to deliver a unique and invigorating project with real tangible outcomes’ Ryder added the success of this project has given the Warriors a taste of running this type of ground breaking project and it is sure to become a much more regular occurrence,’ commented Tom Ryder, Warriors Community Manager.

The final submitted designs and recommendations for the North Stand will be taken seriously when planning the East Stand development and the proposed on going development of the North Stand. Charlie Little Warriors General Manager, discussed the value of this type of project for the Warriors ‘the results of the npowering Easter school have provided us with some real challenges with our developments to ensure they meet the high levels of environmentally conscious developments that the extremely talented young people have produced.’

Congratulations were passed on by eight of the Warriors Stars, who presented the awards and watched in anticipation at some potential designs for the ever changing face of Sixways Stadium.
