| Warriors in collaboration with the West Mercia Constabulary, Worcester Ambassadors, Worcester Alliance and the Youth Justice Board have developed and delivered a project aimed and reengaging young people who have not conformed with mainstream education.
The project run as a pilot initially has been received well by the students and staff involved in the project which utilises the staff, facilities and brand of the Warriors to develop Team Working, Presentation, Communication and Citizenship Skills. The project involves indoor education, tasks and challenges based up at the Warriors Study Centre coupled with practical activities and challenges outside at Sixways Stadium.
Players and staff have been involved in the design implementation and delivery of the project which has been met with an 80% attendance rate from the young students. The project which is aimed at supporting young people who struggle to achieve through traditional methods of education, allows the young Warriors the opportunity to develop life skills, which is hoped will allow them to understand and appreciate the need to learn and respect the community they live in.
‘The success of this project demonstrates the important role the Warriors can play in the development of education by approaching it from a appealing and alternative angle, we hope this is the start of a bright future of our involvement in education supported by the great work of the Warriors Study Centre and our new Education Officer who will be with us from May,’ commented Tom Ryder, Warriors Community Manager.
